3 Light Displays & What They Mean

On the top of the scanner is an LED light with three possible light displays

White “breathing”/ “pulsing” light

When the scanner is turned on and ready to be used, you’ll see a white breathing/pulsing light. This means the scanner and User Interface (UI) are running normally.

Blinking yellow light

This light means the scanner is not ready to be used. This is the light you’ll see when turning on the scanner, meaning, the scanner is booting up just like a normal computer would. This process takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Afterwards, the light will switch to the normal white light and you’re able to use the scanner.

If the blinking yellow light lasts longer than 2 minutes, something is preventing the scanner from booting up. In this case, a “hard reboot” (unplugging the scanner and waiting 30 seconds before plugging it back in) usually fixes this. If you try a “hard reboot” and the blinking light still lasts longer than 2 minutes, please submit a support ticket. Make sure to include your scanner number - this is written on a small sticker on the back of the scanner, next to the power supply input.

Green spinning light

Volumental will send frequent software updates to your scanner to make sure you have access to the latest features available.

When the scanner is downloading and installing an update, a green spinning light will appear, indicating that the scanner is in the middle of updating its software. Do not interfere with this process, especially do not unplug the scanner, as doing so may cause the scanner to experience issues. Just let it do its thing and it will be ready for you shortly.

While updating, you will not have access to the UI, which will show up as a blank white screen on the iPad. If you find that you have access to the scanning screen but the green light is still spinning, simply perform a scan on yourself and that should set it back to normal.
