How to Open the Scanner Base Unit

The scanner's electronics are all located inside the scanner base unit. Should you ever need to replace something inside the scanner, this guide will run you through how to open the base unit.

  1. Turn off the scanner by unplugging the power cord.
  2. Carefully remove the towers by 1) pulling them straight up or 2) detaching them on the underside of the tower slot. Option 1 or 2 is depending on which version of scanner you have.

  5. Turn the scanner back to its original position. Please note that you now have detached the top plate by unscrewing the screws. Make sure you get a grip around both scanner bottom and top before you lift it.

  6. Gently lift off the top plate.

  7. You are now able to access the electronics; like the computer, tower cables, and network/power ports.

  8. To test the electronics, either to troubleshoot or to test a replaced component, turn the scanner back on by plugging in the power cord. These lights should be on if the electronics are working as expected:

  9. To put the scanner back together, make sure that all cables are inside the base unit and then complete steps 1 - 6 in reverse order.

Note that the towers must be removed for this step.
