Learn how to connect to the internet and save the UI shortcut on your iPad. The UI is internet-based, not an app in the App Store.
Ethernet - the preferred, simplest and most stable way to connect your scanner
- Plug the ethernet cable into the back of the scanner (next to the power port).
- Ensure the iPad is connected to the store's Wi-Fi network.
- Open a browser and enter vandra-xxxx.local (where the xxxx is the scanner's serial number found on the back of the scanner) to access the user interface.
- Click on the share icon next to the URL and select "Add to Home Screen" and click "Add”. Now, you can click the Volumental icon on your home screen to access the scanner interface.
Wi-Fi - if ethernet is not available
- Ensure the scanner is plugged in and powered on.
- In the iPad's Wi-Fi settings, select the hotspot named "vandra-xxxx-hotspot: where xxxx is the scanner's serial number which can be found on the back of the scanner near the power cable.
- Enter the password for the hotspot. You will find the password in the scanner's user manual. If you cannot find the user manual, please submit a support ticket.
- Open a browser and type 10.42.0.1 in the address bar, and press enter.
- Press the Cogwheel icon located in the top right corner to open the settings, and select the "Setup scanner Wi-Fi" button.
- Select your store’s Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and press Connect.
- Now return to the iPad's Wi-Fi settings and connect it to the store's Wi-Fi network.
- Open a browser and enter vandra-xxxx.local (where the xxxx is the scanner's serial number found on the back of the scanner) to access the user interface.
- Click the Share icon next to the URL, select Add to Home Screen, then Add. Now, you can click the Volumental icon on your home screen to access the scanner interface.
Notes:
- The User Interface (UI) is optimized for iPads and Elo screens. Other devices may work, but we cannot guarantee full functionality of our services on those devices.
- If you see the message "vandra-XXXX.local's server IP address could not be found", this means that the iPad and scanner cannot communicate. Chances are they are not on the same network. Please submit a support ticket if you need help.
Tips:
- If the scanner has never been connected via ethernet, make sure to clean the dust out of the ethernet port before plugging in the cable in order to avoid any shortages and minimize the risk of destroying the internal parts.
- The scanning process is most optimal when the iPad is in held horizontally in landscape mode. We recommend locking the iPad in landscape mode by pulling the control center down from the top right of the iPad and turning on the lock button.
